Babies like Buskara urgently need your help. She and other infant chimps are orphaned all across Africa because poachers are slaughtering their mothers and families for meat.

Will you help us stop the slaughter?

Our closest relatives are nearer to extinction than ever before. The hunting of wild animals in Africa, once a means of sustenance for people in remote villages, has become a rapidly growing black-market industry worth billions of dollars per year. Illicitly hunted wildlife is now a delicacy, with gorillas sold for 20 times the price of a cow.

Tragically, the illicit hunting, selling and eating of primates is common throughout much of Africa. The bushmeat trade, as this horrific industry is known, has become the most significant danger to the existence of Africa’s primates.

What began long ago as a source of protein has become a major industry, with bushmeat sold in cities at higher prices than chicken or beef and many people hunting wild animals as a source of extra cash rather than food. The babies, too small to eat, are snatched from the forest and put in cramped, dingy cages and tied by ropes and chains, sometimes only until they’re big enough to butcher.

PASA and our member sanctuaries are educating hundreds of thousands of people across Africa that the bushmeat industry is unsustainable, cruel, and may expose them to deadly diseases like Ebola.

By donating $20 today, you will make it possible to show films that teach one classroom in Africa about the consequences of hunting and eating bushmeat. Your contribution of $50 will educate an entire village.

Please donate today to join the movement and protect our closest relatives from slaughter.
